Edward Clayton McCoy, age 98 of Lake City, passed away on December 30, 2023 at his residence. Clayton was born June 8, 1925 in Anderson County at the residence of his late parents Conda & Gussie (Foust) McCoy. The Mason Lodge and the Shriner's Organization were both big parts of his life. Clayton was a 45 year member of the Scottish Right Of Free Masonry and also a 72 year member of the Grand Lodge Free & Accepted Masons of Tennessee. He was a member of Coal Creek - Lodge # 492. He was also a 72 year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and an auxiliary for several years at Anderson County Sheriff's Office. Clayton was a life long member of Clinch River Baptist Church. He enjoyed many things, but a few of his favorite things included talking about Jesus, gardening, cattle, fishing, mechanic work, welding work, and growing tobacco. Clayton loved spending time with his family and friends most of all. If he knew you, he loved you.
Clayton and his wife Lillie Ruth (Lowe) McCoy were married in 1962 and were married until her death in 2018.
Clayton is preceded in death by his parents, Conda and Gussie (Foust) McCoy, his wife, Lillie Ruth (Lowe) McCoy, his son, Edward McCoy, his grandchildren, Brandy Williams and Mitchell Holt, his brothers: Wayne Abner, James McCoy, Lawrence McCoy, Vaughn McCoy, and his sister, Kathleen (McCoy) Johnson.

Twin Daughters Janet (McCoy) Saunders
Karen (McCoy) Shubert husband George
Janet's son, Kent (KC) grand daughter: Nellie
Karen's children Ben, Jr, (BJ) ( Maegan) and Balie (Coty), Patricia (Jimmy), David (Terree)
Grand children: Brycen ,Graycen / Zara / Kaisen/ Aleena
Edward Quintin McCoy also had a set of twins (grandchildren) Melissa, Michelle and Trisha McCoy
Ronnie Allen McCoy (grandchildren) Shana, Scott, Jennifer, Amanda
Roseanna McCoy Williams (grandchildren): Brandy, Mitchell and Brian
Clayton leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many other family members and friends to mourn his passing.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Loving Memory of Clayton to the Coal Creek Lodge #492.
Visitation: 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, January 4, 2023 at the Clinch River Baptist Church in Lake City.
Masonic Service: 7:45 PM, Thursday, January 4, 2023 at Clinch River Baptist Church in Lake City with the funeral Service to follow.
Family and Friends will meet at Hatmaker Funeral Home on Friday, January 5, 2023 at 1:15 PM, to go in procession to the McCoy Family Cemetery in Lake City for a 2:00 PM graveside service.
