Wilma Jean Elliott

Wilma Elliott, age 81, resident of Rocky Top, Tennessee, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Wilma was born on February 3, 1944, in Clinchmore, Tennessee. She was a woman of deep faith and a member of Clear Branch Baptist Church. Her love and kindness touched the lives of many.

Her unwavering love for God and her family was the hallmark of her life. She could always be found in one of her happy places: her kitchen, her garden or surrounded by her family. Whether growing vegetables, propagating flowers or caring for children she gladly shared her time, knowledge, and bounty with others. She had a generous spirit with a heart for providing meals to those in need and visiting friends and family who were sick or homebound.

Her legacy of love, service, and nurturing beauty will be cherished forever.

Wilma is preceded in death by her parents: Rev. Willie and Ella Mae Duncan of Lake City, her husband of 57 years, Jack Elliott; and her siblings: Rev. Otis Duncan, Clarence Duncan, Faye Stewart, Verdie Mae Duncan and Geneiva Ann Duncan.

Wilma is survived by her children: Shirley (Kirtus) Roberts of Rocky Top, Sharon (Rick) Smith of Rocky Top, Jeffrey Elliott of Clinton, and Dr. Steven (Alison) Elliott of Clinton; grandchildren: Corey (Rachel) Roberts of Andersonville, Brycen Roberts (Brittany Sawyer) of Knoxville, Jordon (Chanler) Smith of Knoxville, Connor Smith of Rocky Top, Megan Elliott of Clinton, Kelsey (Terry) Myers of Clinton, and Caroline Elliott and Camille Elliott of Clinton; great-grandchildren: Brayden and Avery Elliott, Jase and Jackson Roberts, Wyatt and Waylon Myers, and Willow Roberts; brothers: Donnie (Audrey) Duncan and Larry (Lynette) Duncan; sisters: Chris White, Betty Toler, Ruby Toler, Becky Duncan, and Judy McCoy; special friend Judy Reynolds and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Rocky Top. Funeral services will follow immediately at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend Randy Norton officiating. The family graveside service will be held on Friday, June 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Leach Cemetery in Rocky Top. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Wilma’s name to Clear Branch Baptist Church of Rocky Top.
