Susan Peed Lawson

Oct 22 1952 - June 12, 2026

Susan Peed Lawson (73) passed away on June 12, 2026, after a long battle with cancer. She went to be with the Lord and her husband peacefully in her sleep. She was originally from Jeffersonville, Indiana and was a graduate of Indiana University. After leaving Indiana University, she moved to Orlando, Florida where she met and eventually married the love of her life: James Edward (Jim Ed) Lawson Jr., now deceased, in 1983. From this marriage she gained two beautiful stepdaughters, Jimma Joe Parker (nee Lawson) and Sarah Beth Kirkland (nee Lawson) whom she loved dearly. Susan and Jim Ed also had a son, James Edward Lawson III. Susan and Jim Ed moved to Lake City, Tennessee in 1992 where they lived for the remainder of their lives. In Lake City, Susan started work at Lake City Elementary School in 1998 and worked there for twenty-two years as a teacher's assistant, mainly working working with pre-k special education children. She found great passion for helping these children and would do so in and outside the classroom anyway she could. While working at LCES she gained many loyal friends whom she formed lifelong bonds with. She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church of Lake City and was devoted Christian since childhood. Susan is survived by her daughters Jimmy Joe Parker, Sarah Beth Kirkland, Sarah's husband Travis Kirkland, and her son James Edward Lawson III. In addition, she is survived by six grandchildren. Blake Parker, Lawson Parker, Spencer Parker, Madison Prichard (Nee Pickens), Trevor Kirkland, and Taryn Fant (nee Kirkland). She is also survived by her sister-in-law Sarah Lou Oldham (nee Lawson) and her children. She is preceded in death by her husband of forty-six years Jim Ed Lawson Jr., brother-in-law Carl Micheal Lawson, brother-in-law Charles Oldham, son-in-law Kerry Parker, brother Rader Peed, and her parents Virginia Smith, and William Peed. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital, which she devoutly donated to.
