Shelia Sue Ford

Sheila Sue Ford, age 76, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026 at River Grove Health where she had resided for several years under the wonderful and dedicated staff which we can not thank enough for caring for and loving her. Born on April 4, 1950, in Briceville, Tennessee, Sheila was the beloved daughter of the late Bonnie Beatrice Mayes and Horace Edward Mayes.

She was also preceded in death by her cherished husband, Jimmie Lee Ford; her son, Michael Edward Mayes; and her siblings, Faye Edison and Jerry Mayes.

She is survived by her loving siblings Jim (Cheryl) Mayes and Sharon Mayes, her devoted daughter in law Lisa Mayes, and numerous grandchildren (Taylor, Caleb, Kristen, Brianna, Gracie, Addy, and Cannon), all of whom will forever treasure the love, wisdom, and unforgettable memories she shared with them.

Sheila dedicated her life to caring for others, always giving whatever she had to those in need. Her generosity, compassion, and selfless spirit touched the lives of countless family members, friends, and neighbors. Sheila had a personality that could light up any room. She loved spending time fishing, singing karaoke, and sharing stories with anyone willing to listen; she always seemed to know the latest news and never missed an opportunity for a good conversation. She also found simple joy in life's little pleasures—especially a candy bar and an ice-cold Coca-Cola. Above all, Sheila will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her generous heart, her vibrant spirit, and her ability to make people laugh, feel welcome, and know they were cared for. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the family she loved so deeply.

Visitation: Tuesday, July 11, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral Service: at 7:00 pm at the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel, Rocky Top, TN.
