Shasta Dawn (Duncan) York October 06,1977- May 23, 2026. Shasta Dawn Duncan York (48) of Harriman, Tenn., passed away on 5-23-2026 at her home with her beloved pets by her side. She loved both of her dogs, Bob and Marley. They were special companions for her. Shasta Dawn was born on Oct 6, 1977, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, TN. Most of her family and long-time friends fondly remember her as Dawn. While growing up, she lived in the Dutch Valley area. After having her 3 precious children, she was a stay-at-home mom. Living in the Clinton and Lake City area. Later, moving to Harriman, TN, Dawn was of the Baptist faith. She was a member of Mt Calvary Church in Clinton, TN. Dawn faced many struggles throughout her life. Forces that none of us will ever understand in this life. Some of her hobbies included tending to her roses, planting trees, and seeing things grow. She loved working in her yard, making Art displays. Seeing her displays would bring a smile to your face. She was a collector of miniatures (mini's) and shared them with great excitement with her family and friends. Many family and friends would buy her items, which she would proudly add to her collection. She was a very special person. She understood what hardships were, always making everyone feel Welcome and accepted. A very selfless person. She had a special way of giving, often opening her home up to family and friends as a place to stay. She was the kind of person who would always want you to eat when you visited. She would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. She left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She deeply valued time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and friends. Her children declare her the best Mom. Her grandchildren said she's the Best Mamaw ever. She grew up in the Dutch Valley Community and attended Norwood, Dutch Valley, and Oliver Springs Schools as well as Clinton Senior High School. After high school, she became a CNA. and worked at several local nursing care facilities, Lake City, Golden Living, The Waters, and Greenfield Assisted Living of Oak Ridge.
Shasta ( Dawn) is preceded in death by her former husband, Aaron York.

sister, Conyia Sue Duncan
parents, Forston and Connie Sue (Braden) Duncan,
grandparents Joe and Laney (Bryge) Duncan and Lige and Elsie (Patton) Braden,
several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many cousins.
She is survived by her beloved children, Son Aaron (Bubb), Isaiah York ( Shannon),
Daughter Katie Dawn York (Joey Rutledge)
Grandchildren: Jayvian Thomas, Jericho York, Emilee Rutledge, Emoree Rutledge, Brandy Rutledge.
She also considered Tristian Rutledge as one of her grandkids.
and brother, Bryon Jessie Duncan of Harriman, TN.
Her companion, David King, along with Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and many special friends.
Instead of flowers, the family request any donations be made to Hatmaker's Funeral Home in Memory of Shasta Dawn (Duncan) York You may leave precious memories of Dawn online at Hatmaker’s Funeral Home, Rocky Top, TN. The family will receive friends on Thursday May 28,2026 from 5 pm to 7pm, at Hatmaker’s Funeral Home, Rocky Top, TN. formerly known as (Lake City, TN). Graveside services will be on Friday May 29, 2026, at 12: noon at Brown Flats Cemetery in Briceville, Tn, with preacher Larry Sharp officiating.
