Rickey Lynn Elliott
Rickey Lynn Elliott (Rick), age 75, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, in Maryville, TN. He was born March 17, 1950, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Knoxville, TN, and was the only child of James and Athela (Carden) Elliott. Rick was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Justin Wade Elliott. He is survived by his wife Leah Elliott, daughter Caitlin Galka (Jimmy McKinnon), stepson Cody Chason (Nicole Dabbs), grandsons Tyler Elliott and Jackson Galka, granddaughters Jasmine and Julianna Chason, first cousins Jimmy and Robin Bodak, and many other family members and dear friends. Rick was a graduate of Cumberland College, UT Knoxville, and Tennessee Tech University. He was a beloved teacher at Anderson County High School and coached basketball and football for many years. He loved college sports – especially the Tennessee Vols. Rick will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and friend. He had a wonderful sense of humor and had many funny stories to share. Clear Branch Baptist Church in Rocky Top was his church home for many years, and he was currently a member of Victory Baptist Church in Maryville. He served six years in the US Army and had a deep love and respect for veterans and the US military. A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, September 6, at 1:00 PM at Clear Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Norton officiating. The graveside service will follow at Leach Cemetery in Rocky Top where military honors will be presented by the Honor Guard of Campbell County. Family and friends are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Second Harvest Food Bank, the Wounded Warrior Project or Leach Cemetery.
