Joyce Evelyn “Tootsie” Haire, age 92, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

Joyce was born on August 3, 1933, in Laurel Grove, Tennessee, to the late Elmer and Evelyn Foust. During her childhood, she moved to Baltimore, Maryland, before eventually returning home to Tennessee, where she spent the remainder of her life.

In her younger years, Joyce was employed at the Knoxville Glove Company before dedicating herself fully to her family as a homemaker. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life centered on love, creativity, and faith.

Joyce was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and deeply cherished listening to sermons taught by Pastor Arnold Murray of the Shepherd’s Chapel in Arkansas. Alongside her beloved husband, Bud, she made it a daily routine to record and watch sermons together, a practice that brought her great comfort and joy.

Affectionately known as “Tootsie,” Joyce possessed many artistic talents. She enjoyed drawing, cake decorating, and sewing, and she and Bud spent many hours creating wooden items—Bud carving them and Tootsie painting them with care and creativity. Her talents and handiwork were a reflection of her patience, imagination, and loving spirit.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Evelyn Foust; her husband, Ferman “Bud” Ray Haire; and her sisters, Emma Sue White, Betty Jean White, and Billie Jo Carver.

She is survived by her one and only son, Scott Kevin Haire; her granddaughters, Brittney Lambert (husband Jordan), Heather Haire (long-time partner Ryan Copeland), and Amber Haire (long-time partner Jacob Murray); and her cherished great-grandchildren, Colton, Connor, Raelyn, Mia, Corbin, Landon, Jaxon, Emorie, Zoey, and Beckett. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Joyce will be remembered for her gentle heart, strong faith, creative hands, and the deep love she held for her family. Her legacy lives on in the generations she nurtured and the lives she touched.
