John H. Griffith passed away on November 15, 2025. He was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on a farm on March 27, 1934, to the late Howard Griffith. He was raised on a farm and raised in an Amish Mennonite family / community. He joined the U.S. Navy when he became of age. John was of the Christian faith and attended First Apostolic Church of LaFollette. He was a man of many hobbies. He liked many different styles of music including: mariachi music, older country, gospel, and bluegrass. Some of his favorite artists were Charlie Pride, George Jones, Merle Haggard, and Patsy Cline. He loved his collectibles of Olympic pins, his rare coins, his antique furniture, his antique cars, tshirts, and hats. He enjoyed gardening, farming, canning, traveling, going to Nascar races, and you can't forget his love for sunflowers, chicken liver and onions, sauerkraut, strawberry ice cream, red beets, boiled eggs, watermelon, strawberries, and watching WWE. He loved, loved, loved his Diet Dr Pepper, thin mints, and Reeses. He enjoyed playing Santa in his younger years at the mall when he lived in California. He loved to record everything and anything he possibly could. John kept bees at his home and tended to their needs. He loved to take his corn, honey and other produce to local farmer markets to sell. He was very well known and respected in the farmer market community. John loved his fur babies: Pongo, his dog, and Lady, his dog, Ms. Elizabeth, his cat and his dog, Pepper. John loved all animals. In John's younger years he loved helping/serving the community by fixing big Thanksgiving/Christmas dinners and inviting anyone/everyone who was in need of a meal to come and eat all they could eat. He also donated what he could to different animal and children charities throughout the years.

And a host of other family and friends.
The family would like to extend a Special Thank You to Jean, his caretaker, who is a Godsend. They are so blessed to have had her in their lives because she helped so much with John. Another Special Thank You to his nurse, Sarah, who also helped with and loved on John.
Visitation: 12:00 Noon - 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel in Lake City.
Funeral Service: 2:00PM, Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment: to follow funeral service at Leach Cemetery in Lake City, Tennessee.
