Jeanette Mae Duncan, born August 15, 1952, passed away peacefully January 28 at UT Hospital.

Jeanette was a longtime resident of Rocky Top, and LaFollette, Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tester and Elsie Duncan; her brothers, Sonny Duncan and Terry Duncan; and her sisters, Thresea Duncan and Wanda Duncan. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews, and by a multitude of dear friends who became her chosen family. Among them was her close friend Angie Holcomb, who lovingly cared for her and stood by her side with compassion and devotion. Jeanette was truly a firecracker — full of spirit, creativity, and independence. She was an accomplished artist who expressed herself through her work and found joy in creating beauty. She attended the Savannah College of Art and Design and the New York School of Art, where she further developed her artistic talents and passion for the arts. In addition to her creative life, Jeanette proudly served her country as a veteran of the United States Army, the United States Navy, and the Merchant Marines. Her service reflected her strength, determination, and commitment to something greater than herself.

Those who knew Jeanette will remember her bold personality, her artistic soul, and her unwavering individuality. She lived life on her own terms and left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Funeral services will be held in April at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Rocky Top, Tennessee. Service details will be announced at a later date.

Jeanette will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, her friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
