Ava Louise Yocum, 75, went to be with her heavenly father on Monday, June 23, 2025, at home surrounded be her loving family. Ava was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother. sister, and friend. She was steadfast in her faith and loved her family above all else. She was a light that brought joy and laughter to everyone she met. You could always find her either in her garden or with her family. She was a gifted writer and penned many gospel songs and poems, a legacy that will be cherished by all who were blessed to hear a song or receive a poem. Her generous spirit and heart for giving will be missed.
Ava is preceded in death by her husband, Billy "Bill" Wayne Yocum Sr.; parents Dewey W. Duncan and Marie Right Duncan; brothers Robert, Clay, and Chelma Duncan; and sisters Debra Jean Duncan, Shirley Chestine Byrge, Charlene Mobley. and Alma Sue Price.
Ava is survived by her children Billie(Robert) Hatmaker of Madisonville and Billy Wayne Yocum Jr. (Mindy) of Knoxville; grandchildren Kaleb ( Danielle) Hatmaker, Dylan (Chelsey) Hatmaker, Dakota (Fiancé Haley) Hurst, Jordan Hurst, Abigail Hurst, Jacob George, Josie George; her beloved great-granddaughter Raygan Hatmaker; sisters Charlotte Duncan (Tom), Patti Ford, Maxine Lutner; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The family will have a graveside service on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 2:00PM, at Graves Gap Baptist Church in Briceville, Tennessee. Friends and family are invited to join at The Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel in Lake City at 1:00PM, to go in procession to Graves Gap Cemetery.
