Anthony Joseph Aloi, 88, of Clinton, Tennessee, husband of Iva Jean Aloi, was lifted by his Heavenly Father through the gates of Heaven on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Methodist Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was the son of Nicola and Carmella Aloi who immigrated from Sicily, Italy. There was nothing he loved and adored more than his wife and children. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Clinton.
When the Korean War broke out, it had an impact on Tony and he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17 in 1954. He was proud to enter the military and serve his country. He was a gifted drummer and became a member of the "President's Own" The Marine Corps Band.
In 1955 between tours, Tony met Iva Jean Cox in Washington D.C. He asked her to an evening parade and not long after they were married. On September 1, 1956 their first son Michael was born, and a year later on September 12, their second son Timothy was born.
In 1966 Tony was given orders to Vietnam where he spent 13 and a half months. He said after returning he was proud to have served his country.
He received the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, and the Combat Action ribbon. Tony retired from the Marines in 1973 after achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. His sons followed in his footsteps. Michael enlisted in the Marine Corps and Timothy enlisted in the Air Force.
Tony was an audio electrician and was tasked with preparing the stage in the White House for the shows put on for the President so he met many celebrities.He served under Presidents; Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon. He vividly remembered November 22, 1963 as he and two close friends were making a record for the President and his wife, when they heard the radio announce that the President had died. The next few weeks were filled the preparations for the President's Funeral procession as he and the Marine band were a big part.
After retiring he worked a few different jobs, and ended up working for the Department of Defense as a Plant Manager for a microelectronics firm.
He belonged to the Knights of Columbus, Marine Corps Association, Disabled Veterans of America, and the Naval Fleet Reserves.
Tony enjoyed trout fishing, wood working, racquetball, and yard work with his wife Jean.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 69 years Iva Jean Aloi, Sons Michael (Debby), and Timothy (Katie), Grand Children Melissa Aloi, Joseph Aloi (Emily), Casey Rust (Mikah), Nicole LaTour (Steve) and Vincent Aloi. Great Grand Children; Dalton Williams, Ava Jean and Joseph Gray Aloi, Beranger and Bowen Rust, and Scarlett LaTour. Sisters Carmella Savage, and Josephine Walsh.
Visitation will be Saturday June 21, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at St. Therese Catholic Church in Clinton, Tennessee followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. The Graveside Service will be held immediately following the Funeral Mass at the Leach Cemetery in Lake City, Tennessee located behind Clear Branch Baptist Church.
